Freshly Fallen Snow
49Winter Wonderland Magic Gallery
Snowfall in a village at night evokes a playful response.
Soft snowflakes descended quietly from the sky. They danced on the wind and landed gently upon the grass. The pure white carpet that they made was illuminated by the glow of blue icicle lights hanging from one porch, and green lights from another. The dancing flakes made their way toward the colorful lights, and spied their reflections in windows. Sometimes children looking through those windows waved to the dancing clusters of icy crystals, smiling. The children were lit up by the lights strung around the trees standing behind them, and seemed like angels.
The snowflakes fell gently to the ground, piling upon one another. Running feet crunched and flattened them, as children raced from door to door. Revelers sang holiday carols for a cup of hot cocoa.
More snowflakes laced the leafless branches of trees and sleeping, barren earth. They made the world sparkle in the moonlight. Together, the flakes made a charming, slippery mantle of crystals to pack into balls, and slide upon downhill with sleds. The wind moaned, but the children squealed with delight, hoping that the next day would be filled with wintry play.

What a beautiful magical scene, I loved it and the pictures.
Voted up, best wishes Lesley
Ed took some great shots! A picture is all I care to see of cold weather. I see your hearts are warm, but I can never get my feet warm up north, unless I hold them in front of the fire.
The snow girl is a gas. I hope she never melts.
We had a cold snap and it was nice to have a fire. After a while, we had to open the doors to the porch to keep from baking.
