A party with an unusual ending

We were all sitting in a circle of chairs around a wooden table carved from a tree trunk, eating slices of pizza with an array of toppings and sipping home-made mead. Somebody brought gifts that were shiny, gold packages twisted at the ends. When you pulled them apart they exploded, with their contents flying all over the room.

A pinata in the likeness of a parrot was hung and a Mariachi band began to play. All the guests whacked at it with an oar. A man wearing a white feathered boa, a black eye patch, and a sombrero walked around with a pitcher full of Sangria to pour into empty glasses. Young people wearing boas and headbands with cat or chihuahua ears walked around the room presenting fancy hors d'oeuvres, accompanied by sparkling gold cloth napkins.

After the pirate parrot pinata was shattered and all the party guests descended upon the gold doubloons and chocolate truffles strewn about, the dance music filled the room. Fireworks climbed the walls and ceiling as the happy revelers moved with "the twist," salsa, rhumba, and moon walk. Someone wearing a white, glow-in-the-dark snowman suit trimmed with sparkly bling of many colors was break-dancing with a broom at the center of a rainbow of refracted lights shooting from floating crystals at the center of the dance floor. Each party guest took turns dancing with him, and then spiraled out in all directions, trailing bursts of light. Out the doors they danced and spun....down the stairs...and onto the moonlit field...turning into meteors that lit up the midnight sky.

Hey! I wasn't invited! It sounds like an art school party. Watch out for the punch, it isn't spiked with alcohol.

Seems like it was spiked with something "unearthly." :0)

Yes, I agree...children are the liveliest guests at the party...truly the heart of family gatherings...and it is so much fun to watch their delight with gifts, games, etc. :0)

Oh it was earthly enough. We found them in the cow patties.

I always wondered where meteors land after they fall through the air. :0)
